Stress Technique, Stress Prevention: Keep Yourself Busy

I am retired and one of the actions that I take to prevent potential stress situations like boredom and inactive mind etc. was to keep myself busy. One of my projects that I undertake is online business. I have searched extensively for good Affiliate Programs and found one as an excellent choice as there is no need for me to set up a website. Before we embark on spending our hard earned retirement money on some small business ventures, it is a good practice to conduct a Cost Benefit Analysis, as follows:

You should take into consideration the overall actual costs to be incurred, as follows:

1. Initial one time charge for the first month was $x
2. Reoccurring fee of $y every month.

To build up the business and earn passive income and potentially financial freedom, my initial target is to obtain three (3) paying members. If I have many friends, colleagues and relatives, this is easily achievable if I will to inform them of the benefits. I will then earn the following incomes:

1. I will earn a total of $z Retail Bonus the very next week. I am already in the money when compared with the initial one time charge for the first month of $x by $5.05
2. I will receive Residual Income of commissions every month.
3. Infinity bonus of every member order in my entire organization.
4. The compensation program pays out generational bonuses.
5. Every month, an entire 10% of all the company business volume is split amongst all members who have achieved certain ranks. For being a 1 star associate (achieved with 3 paying members recruited), I will share 35% of the total bonus pools.

In conclusion, I notice that with my initial target of three (3) paying members recruited from my friends, colleagues, relatives etc, the initial one time charge for the first month of $x is already paid for. Items 2 to 5 above would have covered many times over the reoccurring fee of $y every month. In my opinion, the program offers a way to earn money every month.

As I have noticed, the analysis is very conservative. My sponsors have already included many paying members in my team (about 40 members as of today) without me doing anything. I could have recruited more than 3 paying members as I build up my business. This will increase my income every month. The power of this program is passive income from items 2 to 5 above as the size of my team/organization increases. The ultimate goal is to keep myself busy besides getting some forms of financial rewards.

The analysis also did not take into account the incredible savings that I receive every month with the awesome product lines including discount membership cards, grocery coupons, cash back rewards program etc. I can save up to 50% on shopping, tickets, sport events, dining, movies, golf greens fees and many others. In fact, some members of the team save more than the $y that they pay every month.

Effective Stress Techniques to Prevent Stress

We often hear people using phrases like effective stress reducing techniques, effective stress cures, etc. In actual fact, these are all reactive or corrective actions to be taken after a stressful situation has already occurred. Is this the correct way of doing things? Maybe, if the stress situation is beyond your control. Is there other stress technique that we can all use? Of course, if the stress situations can be within our control and we employ the knowledge and experience of our family members, friends, etc, who have seen these stressful situations before. Here, we will look at a stress technique that emphasises on the need for us to identify potential stress situations and the required preventive actions to ensure that the potential stressful situations do not occur.

To lead a less stressful life requires us to identify potential stressful situations and take appropriate preventive actions. We actually do it subconsciously through our logical thinking. Like stress that can result in negative emotions e.g. fear, fright, anxiety and caused by accidents to your young child on the road and at home. We actually take preventive actions like teaching your child the correct way to cross a busy road. In your home, we ensure that the furniture do not have sharp edges and your coffee table glass top are made of the unbreakable type.
However, potential stressful situations that arise out of some major decisions or actions that we take e.g. getting married, changing job, buying a property or going into business, require some careful consideration. Recently I knew of a young man who decided to go into business. His parents were utterly stressed out and could not sleep, frightened that he might resort to some unwarranted actions. In my view, this young man did not make sufficient concerted efforts to think through of potential stressful situations like inability to finance the business as a going concern, inability to get sufficient customers to start the business, customers who would not pay etc. Had he taken appropriate preventive actions to mitigate these potential stressful situations, the business would probably turn out alright.

In identifying potential stressful situations arising from some major decisions or actions that we take e.g. getting married, changing job, buying a property or going into business etc, it is appropriate that we consider the seriousness and probability of the potential stressful situations to occur. Potential stressful situations in a marriage like divorce, incompatibility between the two partners, are worthwhile taken into careful consideration due to the adverse negative impacts on our life. Of course, if the feeling is non-threatening then it is not an issue at all. Then we do not have to consider it. In some cultures, divorce and changing partners are common but in others, it is a big NO. Just consider those potential stressful situations that will cause adverse negative impacts on our life.
Once the potential stressful situations that have adverse negative impacts on our life are identified, stress techniques are employed to prevent the potential stress situations from happening. Preventive actions should be appropriate, effective and implementable. And it is a good practice to implement the preventive actions. Otherwise, it is as good as not doing anything. As the saying goes, No Action Talk Only (NATO).

Effective Stress Techniques To Manage Stress

We encounter stress in one way or another during the course of our daily routine. Here, we will discuss on what is stress, stress techniques to employ in mitigating, reducing and preventing stresses that have adverse negative impacts on our life. Stress is the anxious or threatening feeling that comes when we interpret or appraise a situation as being more than our psychological resources can adequately handle (Lazarus, 1999a). In laymen words, when we are faced with any situation (both negative and positive) and we feel that we can handle the situation; then basically we do not have stress. In fact, in my experience, stress which is not threatening and employing effective stress techniques serves as strong motivation for me to continue to excel in my job performance while working for a large global oil and gas company listed in the Fortune 500. We can if we want to, interpret a stressful situation as a challenge for potential personal growth or gain instead of threatening; then it will give rise to positive emotions, such as eagerness or excitement. Ultimately for example in your job, it will give rise to positive outcomes in your career like accelerated promotion, high bonuses and annual increments.

However, stressful situations that are interpreted or appraised by us to be threatening to our well-being and without employing effective stress techniques will result in negative emotions i.e. fear, depression, fright, frustration, burnout, anxiety and even violence; and psychosomatic symptoms like muscle pain, fatigue, headaches, skin disorders, eating problems, insomnia, high blood pressure or heart pounding etc. In fact, just interpreting or appraising a threatening situation, such as changing your job or getting married, can be more stressful than the actual events.

Before we embark in employing effective stress techniques to mitigate or contain an existing stressful situation, we have to determine the root causes. It is no use getting some cures for the symptoms only without really knowing the real root causes of that stressful situation. I remembered once, I was in severe depression and went to a medical specialist for assistance. Surprise and surprise, the medical expert gave me tranquilizer to calm me down. (For your information, I was once told by my doctor friend that the medical doctors are trained to provide treatments based on symptoms). It is just like weeds in your garden. You pluck the weeds away and you think that the problem is gone and eliminated. But do not forget that the roots are still there and the weeds will surely grow again. So my depression lasted for more than a year. I was moody and could not sleep well. My wife and children commented that I was incorrigible. Eventually, after learning an effective stress technique, the root cause of my stressful situation was identified and actions were immediately taken to eliminate the root cause. My depression is completely gone and now, I can sleep like a baby.

Once the root cause of a stressful situation is identified, stress techniques are employed to cope with, mitigate or even prevent the stress from happening again. The stress techniques involve problem-focussed methodology requiring the need to identify the root causes of a stressful situation and employing effective solutions to eliminate the root causes.
